Mustang

We thought we would mention this, as the Palomino is a horse that is often mistaken for a breed, rather than colour. They consist of a gold coloured coat, and also have a white mane and tail. Due to their unusual colour, palominos stand out in a show ring, and are much sought after as parade horses. The shades of the body coat colour range from cream to a dark gold. Some breeds that have palomino representatives are the American Saddlebred, Tennessee Walking Horse and the Morgan. The Palomino colour is fairly rare in the Thoroughbred. Certain breeds, such as the Arabian, may appear to be Palomino in colour, but are genetically chestnuts with flaxen manes and tails, as there DNA does not carry the cream dilution.
