- Check your horse for any injuries before riding it, particularly around the head,
legs, girth and around the mouth where the bit goes.
- Always make sure that you shut the gate when you turn out/in. When bringing in, even
if there are no other horses in the field, shut the gate behind you.
- If you plan on riding in the dark a lot, invest in a Fluorescent Exercise sheet.
This can help protect you and your horse.
- Never run around horses, even if they are tied up.
- Avoid rustling bags and other things around your horse, especially if you’re standing
behind him/her.
- Never ride after consuming alcohol, this is very dangerous for yourself and your
horse.
- Never approach a horse you know nothing about, you don’t know if its friendly.
- Make sure you get used to a horse before you starting going further (jumping etc)
